Journey
Upon a secret journey
I met a holy man
His blindness was his wisdom
I'm such a lonely man
And as the world was turning
It rolled itself in pain
This does not seem to touch you
He pointed to the rain
You will see light in the darkness
You will make some sense of this
And when you've made your secret journey
You will find the love you miss
And on the days that followed
I listened to his words
I strained to understand him
I chased his thoughts like birds
You will see light in the darkness
You will make some sense of this
And when you've made your secret journey
You will find the love you miss
You will see light in the darkness
You will make some sense of this
You will see joy in this sadness
You will find this love you miss
And when you've made your secret journey
You will be a holy man

The Living Art of Becoming
by Lisa Holloway
Life is a journey. Evolution is a journey. We are evolving - becoming in each moment more than what we were in the moment before. We are evolving as we grow - as we learn. We are evolving into beings who have an understanding of unconditional love. The destination is forever moving as we are forever expanding. We are in each moment, born anew, moving forward, the minutes like footsteps on the journey. Every experience is, in whatever form, a lesson.
Spans of time, periods of our existence, are courses, and each experience in that course of time is a lesson toward the goal of evolution. We evolve in our thought. It is our beliefs, our feelings, our expectations, and our perceptions that evolve. Our desires evolve and our understandings evolve. Thus, we are forever in a state of Becoming. As we individually become, the universe becomes with us. The universe becomes because we become. And, hence the cosmos is eternally expanding.
The physical cosmos is only a tiny fraction of the conscious cosmos. It is consciousness that is ever becoming more and than it was the moment before. Earth is in a state consciousness that is generally primitive as we are still caught up in selfishness. We have yet to understand the value of giving to the whole. Yet as we as individuals evolve, gaining in understanding with each lifetime, we are giving to the whole. The earth is a classroom. It is a place to learn. All of our minute experiences are tiny steps in the big lesson and often keep us distracted from the big picture.
Considering all of our experiences, each is a part of a larger picture, a bigger experience of life here on Earth. Earth is a tiny speck in the cosmos and to think that life began here is a state of understanding that also will evolve. The earth is not the center of the universe. Life did not begin here, nor will it end here. We have a beautiful way of inventing creation stories so that we can attempt to understand how we got here. Even our scientists who will always believe they have at least most of the story have very few clues to the true nature of the universe. By the time we have the technology to leave our solar system, we will have a clear understanding that we are an unfathomably small fragment of the Life in this universe.
We are highly focused on ourselves, believing ourselves to be an axis around which the universe revolves. The goal is to move our consciousness outside of ourselves. A higher state of being is one that understands that every move we make, every thought we think affects the whole- reverberates through the cosmos. It is one that understands that self-destruction is destructive to the whole. Negative energy is simply implosion. It is the opposite of expansion. Negative thoughts, actions, feelings, and intentions cause a retraction of energy, an implosion of the impetus of creation. Thus, positive energy expands and negative energy retracts.
As we travel here, on this planet, we are playing with - learning about positive and negative energy. Positive energy encompasses the whole, reaches out, and becomes part of the motion of evolution. Negative energy withdraws, moves toward isolation, and individualizes - the "I" rather than the "we." Negative energy becomes more and more singular. It eventually implodes within itself and leaves a void, a vacuum. Light is the most demonstrable affect of positive energy that we can perceive on this planet. It is constantly moving, expanding, and it is the energy that resides in the atoms of every physical molecule in the universe.
Radiation in any form is positive energy. The light spectrum that we can perceive is a very small section of the vast array of radiation that infuses this planet with life. Our scientists have not yet discovered the most fantastic uses of light. Light will soon be used for communication, for travel, and for providing all of our energy needs. Energy is the pulse of life. We have discovered that energy never disappears, it just changes form. We are energy changing form every day as our cells divide and re-form our bones and organs many times in one lifetime.
But it is the energy of our consciousness, the knowledge of are being, that is our true vehicle of evolution. Consciousness must evolve. Consciousness desires evolution. And all action or thought that causes consciousness to withdraw into itself impedes that evolution and temporarily halts or slows expansion. And thus we are dealing with the desire to expand towards unity and the negative pull of the ego sense of self.
In moving away from the individual needs, wants, and desires we eventually come to understand the needs of the whole and conduct ourselves in a way that demonstrates such an understanding. Actions in which the needs of the self are set aside are generally considered heroic, saintly, or self-sacrificing. Whereas actions which are taken for personal gain at the expense of others are considered greedy, selfish, and inconsiderate.
So on our journey called life, we are faced with opposite poles. Our behavior and choices continually fall somewhere between these poles. Over time, we as consciousness learn to consider the whole, to work for the good of the all, and to understand that to hurt someone else we are only hurting ourselves. So we journey here, we evolve over many incarnations, and when we have learned the lessons of earth, we move on and continue our journeys elsewhere, ever evolving and ever becoming.
In the beginning, there was Thought. And from that Thought, came Light. And from that Light, came Sound. And from that Sound, came Matter. And from that Matter, came the vehicle for physical Divinity.
